Make Nine Plans

So, here it is February and I'm just now getting to this. Shameful. I know. Well, I did actually plan to get this list out in January....but life. The good thing is, I have an amazing list to share. (Really, it's amazing) Enough rambling, let's get to it!

If you don't know what a Make Nine list is, let me fill you in real quick. It's just a list of 9 things you plan to accomplish before the year is out. Some people choose 9 groups of items and some choice individual patterns or projects they want to focus on. I've chosen specific patterns, mostly indie patterns, to focus on.

1. The first of the beauties is the Rachel overalls by Schnittchen pattern company. I AM IN LOVE WITH THESE OVERALLS!!!! My plan is to rock them in Ankara, as inspired by Marcy Harriell, aka Oonaballoona. Her makes cause my heart to sing.....seriously.

2. Next up is something for my littlest princess. I stumbled upon a photo on Instagram of this adorable toddler in the chicest..is that a word? Yep, chicest bell sleeved shift dress. Swoon! My boss baby will be the envy of all kindergarteners when she shows up in her mustard yellow and white beauty. (Which will be made from a couple of pillowcases, but I won't tell if you won't.)

3. I've noticed a gaping hole in wardrobe and it's name is blazers. I don't know how this classic staple found it's way OUT of my closet, but I plan to rectify that ASAP. There are so many good options out there but 2 patterns definitely caught my eye. The first is Grainline Studios Morris Blazer....LOVE!!!! The other is Papercut Patterns Bellatrix Blazer....LOVE!!! I can't decide between the two so I may end up making both. They both have all the things! You can never have too many blazers, right?

4. JEANS....I'm gonna make JEANS ya'll!!!!! The Closet Case Ginger jeans to be exact...in a high waist dark wash, to be more exact. I have heard so many rave reviews on these jeans that I would be a crazy person not to try them. Crazy, I tell you. I also have the flare leg expansion, so there may be a pair with some 70s flair in my future. (See what I did there?)

5. If jeans weren't enough of a challenge, I just had to add an actual trench coat to the list. Yep, I said TRENCH COAT. Browsing through some of my favorite Indie pattern companies, I came across Rebecca Page's Taylor trench coat release and purchased it in all the sizes. If (when) I'm successful, I won't have to cry these very sad tears over every Burberry, D&G, or Elie Tahari trench I see and I can step my mini-me's trench game up. Challenge accepted!

6.  What is life without bodysuits? I don't know and I'm not trying to find out. This year I plan to add a bundle and half of these fan favorites to all of our wardrobes....not the boys, of course! (The men's romper debacle of 2017 shall not repeat itself, lol. Not on my watch anyway.) Thank goodness for Closet Case patterns having someone like me with a little junk in her trunk in mind when they released the Nettie bodysuit pattern. NO VPL!!!! Hallelujah! I am itching to get the assembly line started on these...so many options, so little time.

7. To keep with my theme of building up my skills this year, I decided to tackle the Tilly and the Buttons Rosa Shirt/Dress. I haven't chosen which I'll be making at the moment but I'm sure it will reveal itself in time. The great thing about TATB is that she has these amazing sewalongs making it virtually goof proof. I'm thinking a western inspired ensemble with some cute piping and cowboy boots, because why not.

8. Growing up, I absolutely hated dresses...now I can live in them. I think I have found my perfect everyday type of dress. The shift (or sheath if you're feeling fancy). Yes, to classic shapes. Yes, to wardrobe workhorses. Yes, to looking like you tried really hard but you really just threw on an awesome dress. There are two that I'm dying to try my hand at. The Sew Over It Ultimate Shift Dress and the Made to Sew Copen have been battling it out in my noggin and they are forcing me to make both and compare. I'm not complaining because I plan on making at least one for every occasion..and a spare...and a spare for the spare. Don't judge me. This is happening.

9. This last beauty is going to be the most sassy, most ME out of the bunch. I just couldn't resist adding a Mimi G  pattern to the list. She's one of my main sewing inspirations so it's only fitting. During a night of YouTube binge watching, she uploaded a video hacking one of her PDF patterns for Sew Sew Def. I sighed a breath of relief that I already owned the Georgia turtleneck pattern because I was definitely IN LOVE. I still haven't found a good supplier for knit fabrics here in the UAE, so this beauty with all of it's ruffle sleeve and fishtail-y goodness is going to have to wait until we are back in the states. **Sigh** It's so yummy.

That's it! That's my ambitious list for 2018 and I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!! Leave a comment if you've made your own Make Nine list for this year. I'd love to see what you all are making and get some ideas for myself. If you're a video watcher, I've filmed a video going into more detail about these upcoming makes. I'll link it for you here. Thanks for hanging out!!!
