January Plans and Makes

Picture it.... January 1st. I am amped, pumped and excited (yep, all those) about getting my sewing groove back. So, in my infinite wisdom I get pencil to the paper and start dreaming up grand plans of sewing bliss. At the end of my planning session, I look at my list and am well pleased. Fast forward to January 31st....in my disheveled mess of a sewing area, under piles and piles of scraps I yell to the heavens "Why me?!" Who in the world do I think I am?

Bottom line, January was definitely filled with some hits and misses, as I got back into the groove of things (and homeschooled my oldest 3 munchkins, while also taking care of my 3 and 4 year old littles....while my husband was away for just under a month on business. Like I said, who do I think I am. Answer: A crazy person!) Here's the rundown on my reality vs. expectations.

The Plans:

  • Megan Nielsen Flint Cropped Pants

  • True Bias Ogden Cami

  • Friday Pattern Company Sunny Dress for #SewMYStyle

  • Cleo dungaree/pinafore (x3)

  • Rebecca Page Madison Bow Blouse

  • Sew Over It City Break Lola Coat

  • Simplicity Mimi G. 8177 wide leg pants (or the Pauline Alice Sorell trousers)

  • Tilly and the Buttons Bettine dress

  • Kalle Shirt Dress, Crop view A popover placket, Dress view C with full button placket.

  • Mini J’adore Bell sleeve/Ruffle dress

  • Sew Over It City Break Erin Skirt

Here's all my little hands could muster.....

*Drum roll please* That's a total of 5 (and a half) out of 11, but I will not be discouraged. I'm more motivated than ever to get things underway and get my mojo on. The best thing about January is that the Sunny dress brought home the January prize for the Sew My Style Challenge. The winners are chosen completely at random, but it was definitely a confidence booster! My oldest mini looked beautiful in her dress and she chose the fabrics we were able to purchase with a $100 gift card from Stonemountain and Daughter fabrics as our prize. Thanks again Stonemountain and Daughter!!!!!
